ZgateTM Features

Key Features
ZgateTM is a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system that enables the control and archiving of email across the enterprise, minimizing the risk of loss of confidential information, and facilitating the investigation of security incidents.
Scanning and filtering e-mail
Zgate email scanning and filtering software works as a SMTP gateway so that it can function as a filter between your email servers and the outside world. It can be installed on the same computer as your existing mail server or on a separate computer.
Social Networking
Zgate monitors Facebooks status updates, Twitter tweets, and other social networking communications to ensure employees are not sharing inappropriate or confidential information. Zgate analyzes messages traffic to detect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, birth dates, and other sensitive information, as well as any data identified by custom rules to prevent data leaks.
Content-Based Encryption
Zgate ensures sensitive data is not sent from the network unencrypted. Messages that match established rules for confidential or sensitive content can be set to be automatically encrypted before transmission. Zgate uses innovative key management allowing third-party recipients to open and view encrypted messages wthout compromising or exposing message content to unauthorized users.
Filtering criteria
The Zgate communications module allows the flexibility of customizing the filtering criteria using all the available message fields (sender, recipient, subject, etc.), including text messages and file attachments. The user-friendly, email server filter facilitates the building of complex filter conditions and nesting with the use of logical operations (AND, OR, NOT, etc).
Analysis of file attachments
The analysis module analyzes all file attachments to determine the attachment type for more than 70 of the most common applications - Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Adobe, AutoCAD, etc... The files are evaluated, not by their extension, which is easily changed by renaming the file, but by the internal structure of a file and the available text component.
Compressed attachments
In the case of compressed attachments, Zgate will automatically unpack and analyze the contents of the attached file. The program recognizes all current compression file types (about 15 types) not only by file extension, but by their internal structure as well.
Encrypted attachments
The email security software allows the administrator to set specific rules for handling encrypted messages and messages containing encrypted attachments.
Content Analysis
Zgate also contains an embedded linguistic analysis module that performs full morphological analysis allowing it to check for all forms of a given word, as well as stemming, which enables the finding of word roots allowing the analysis to disregard word endings. This process works to verify the presence or absence of words in text messages and file attachments. For example, you can create a rule prohibiting the forwarding to any external email address, emails with file attachments which also contain the word «confidential». The linguistic analysis module supports Russian, English, German, French and Italian languages.
Message Handling
After the analysis is performed by the system, the message can be passed through to the email server, blocked, placed in quarantine for subsequent manual processing or placed in the archives. The system also enables the adding of text to the beginning or end of the message, deleting of attachments, and adding, deleting or changing the recipient’s address.
External Program Processing
Zgate allows you to connect to external programs for further handling of e-mail messages, in particular the system anti-spam and antivirus software.
Archiving of e-mails
Zgate automatically archives electronic communications with all the attachments in a Microsoft SQL Server database, and each archived message can be sent to specified email address for special processing. The archive is fully searchable, and the system can flexibly adjust access rights to the archive to provide access to only authorized users. The purging option will automatically delete messages over a certain age, to address the problem of controlling the size of the archive.
Quarantine
Messages placed in quarantine, according to the predefined set of rules, require special handling by a security officer. The security officer periodically checks the quarantine and decides on the appropriate action: passing on of the message, direct archival or even deletion. The Security Officer can notify the appropriate group of users on status of the email: i.e. placed in quarantine, sent, etc.
Compatibility
The Zgate program is compatible with MS Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and 2008 Server, Vista and with all major mail servers, operating via the SMTP protocol - Microsoft Exchange Server, IBM Lotus Domino, Sendmail, Postfix, etc.
