Zgate^TM acts as a checkpoint stopping the leakage of confidential information via email and facilitates the investigation of security breaches by controlling and archiving email across the entire enterprise. This email filtering software works as an SMTP gateway, filtering emails going outside the network. Messages are filtered using all of the available fields (sender, recipient, subject, etc.), including body text and attachments. Filter conditions are built using logical operations such as AND, OR, NOT, etc.

Zgate’s powerful and intuitive analysis module analyzes all file attachments to determine the attachment type for more than 70 of the most common applications, including Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Adobe and AutoCAD. Since file extensions can be easily changed by renaming the file, Zgate evaluates files by their internal structures and available text component. This email filtering software recognizes all current compression file types and automatically unpacks compressed attachments for analysis. Administrators are able to set specific rules for handling encrypted messages and attachments.

Zgate has an embedded linguistic analysis capability that verifies the presence or absence of words in the text and file attachments of emails. Administrators can create rules prohibiting emails containing specific words from being sent to external addresses. The program searches for all forms of a given word and supports English, Russian, German, French and Italian.

Once the analysis is complete, the message is then sent, blocked, placed in quarantine or archived. The archive is fully searchable by authorized users and automatically deletes messages over a certain age in order to control the size of the archive. Messages are placed in quarantine based on a predefined set of rules determined by administrators. An authorized individual is then able to determine the appropriate action for each email. Each one reviewed can be sent, archived or deleted. Administrators also have the option of adding text to the beginning or end of the message, deleting attachments, and adding, deleting or changing the recipient’s address.

Zgate can be connected to external programs. It is compatible with MS Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and 2008 Server, Vista and with all major mail servers operating via the SMTP protocol – Microsoft Exchange Server, IBM Lotus Domino, Sendmail, Postfix, etc.
