Zserver® Storage Architecture

Architecture
Based on transparent encryption technology, Zserver® Storage protects against all threats that involve physical access to the media. Encryption is performed at the storage media level, rather than at the application level, thereby facilitating a deeper level of security. The software is flexible, easy to deploy and cost-effective. It includes separate modules for disc storage, magnetic tapes and CD/DVD protection, operating either together on a single server or independently.
Zserver Storage Architecture Overview
Zserver Storage consists of three main components:
When Zserver Storage is installed on the server the following operations are completed:
- Management and storage of encryption keys
- Initial data encryption
- Ongoing data encryption in real-time
The Zconsole administration tool brings the following software management capabilities to administrators:
- Encryption key generation and management
- Smart card operations
- User administration
- Operational processes for the disks: opening/ closing, encryption/decryption
The Alarm Module provides the capabilities to send alarm signals to the server and remotely lock access to encrypted data or send the server a restart command
