Key Features

Reliable Server Side Data Storage Encryption

Zserver® Storage is designed to provide reliable protection of data stored on hard disks, RAID disk arrays and SAN storage facilities. By utilizing real-time transparent multithreaded encryption/decryption technology, the data is always stored in the encrypted state and decrypted only in the server’s memory, ensuring the data can be read only when the server is up and running and with the proper encryption key loaded.

Persistent Encryption Algorithms

Zserver Storage uses persistent encryption algorithm AES with 256-bit keys.  Because Zserver Storage does not embed specific cryptographic tools within the data, companies have the flexibility to use Zserver Storage with any modern crypto algorithms

Generation and Management of Encryption Keys

Zserver Storage collects mouse movements, microphone noise or data from other sources to randomly generate encryption keys.  These keys are stored on PIN-secured memory devices, such as smartcards and USB-thumbs, providing an added layer of protection. Using PIN-codes in combination with an encryption key storage device (smartcard or USB flash) ensures only authorized users are able to load the encryption key into the server’s memory.

Quorum of Encryption Keys

Zserver Storage employs an encryption key quorum methodology, requiring multiple keys to decrypt the same data set and eliminating dependency upon a single encryption key. Most companies’ business continuity processes and procedures are designed to implement multiple methods for achieving a single task. The encryption key quorum allows the key to be divided into five parts, with a combination of any three able to decrypt the data.

Centralized Administration

Zserver  Storage allows administrators to control any number of servers from any workstation whether on the network or connected remotely from the internet.

Adaptive Multithreaded Encryption (patent pending)

Adaptive multithreaded encryption, an innovative technology pioneered by Zecurion’s software engineers, significantly increases the speed of data encryption in multiprocessing systems.

The greatest performance benefits in multithreaded encryption are realized when working with large blocks of data or when the system is reading/writing a significant number of files, such as during the encryption of backup data on magnetic tapes. For more information go to Wikipedia, multithreaded encryption.

High Encryption / Decryption Performance

Zserver  Storage software components and processes are optimized to ensure no significant impacts occur to server performance. In most instances, where servers do not bear a full load, Zserver Storage users have reported absolutely no noticeable slowdowns in performance or loss of productivity.

Zserver Script Pack and COM API

The Script Pack provides software developers with extensions, increasing the functionality of Zserver Storage via external scripts, written in either Jscript or VBscript, that can be triggered by pre-defined events. The pack includes sample scripts to: start and stop services and applications, send notifications to administrators and un-mount and replace encrypted disks. The software also extends COM API enabling software integrators that allow Zserver Storage's capabilities to be incorporated within applications.

System Deployment Without Any Downtime

Zserver Storage is easily deployed without any server downtime. Continuous server operation is achieved through Zserver Storage's initial background encryption of disk partitions, allowing users to begin or continue work with encrypted sectors without interruption. Zserver Storage's quick format and encrypt function provides near-instant encryption of disk sectors that do not yet contain any data.

Zserver’s initial encryption process can be paused or suspended. Following a pause, whether planned or caused by a power outage or equipment failure, the process can easily be resumed or rolled back to the original state.

Disk Access Control

The Zserver Storage Disk Access Control module ensures that authorized applications have access to the stored encrypted data and can distinguish between shared folders and protected data. For example, if the disk stores only database files, Zserver Storage Disk Access Control will grant access to the drive only to the DBMS application. For all other applications and users the disc will not be available.

Servers Clustering

Zserver Storage can operate in clustered servers’ environment running Microsoft Cluster Services.

Elimination of Damaged Sectors

Zserver Storage detects corrupted sectors using bad block sense, assuring system stability, even if damaged sectors are accessed.
